Tallow: The Ultimate Solution for Dry Skin.

Living in Mississippi, I’ve experienced firsthand how the drastically changing temperatures wreak havoc on my skin. You seriously never know what the weather is going to give you here! One day, it’s humid and warm, and the next, it’s freezing and dry. The constant shift in weather can leave skin feeling tight, flaky, and uncomfortable.
Several years ago, I started experiencing some issues with rosacea, which flares up the most during seasonal changes (and has also been more noticeable during pregnancy). I tried so many things to soothe the dry, itchy, red bumps that would flare up, but everything literally seemed to irritate it more—even name brands that are known for being the most gentle. I was amazed when I discovered the world of tallow as a replacement for all of those products I had bought over the years.
Fast-forwarding to now, my whipped tallow balms and handcrafted skincare have now replaced every other item I used to own, and when I have dry skin or even a rosacea flare-up, tallow brings an instant feeling of relief and helps clear up the issue with consistent use. My husband also uses my balms on his psoriasis and eczema, and we’ve seen firsthand how powerful this simple, nutrient-rich ingredient can be.
Those are more specific and serious skin concerns, but what about just plain old dry skin—the kind that so many people struggle with, especially in winter? Does tallow help with everyday dryness?
YES!
In fact, I have personally heard from many, many, many customers that Bloom's whipped tallow balms have been a game-changer in this area. I’m not kidding—I sometimes hear this multiple times a week! Here are just a few of the things customers have told me:
"It's the only thing that has helped me with dry skin this winter."
"Your balm has stopped me from blowing away like Thanos in the wind."
"I put a thick layer of balm on at night and wake up the next morning looking glowing and moisturized."
"This tallow is saving my hands right now!"
"Your tallow balm is so thick and silky and it absorbs so quickly!"
In short, tallow isn’t just another moisturizer—it’s deep, lasting hydration that actually works.

What Makes Tallow Different from Store-Bought Moisturizers?
Most commercial moisturizers rely on water-based formulas, synthetic additives, and emulsifiers that may provide temporary hydration but ultimately evaporate quickly—often leaving skin even drier than before.
Did you know that many also contain alcohols, preservatives, and artificial fragrances that can strip the skin’s natural oils and cause irritation?
That’s right—the stuff you’re putting on your skin for relief and moisture may actually contain unnecessary ingredients that dry you out even more! Make it make sense!
Tallow, on the other hand, is a completely different experience. It is a pure, animal-based fat that closely mimics the skin’s natural oils (sebum). Because of its bioavailability, the skin recognizes tallow as a compatible ingredient.
Bioavailability just means means how easily something can be absorbed and used by the body. Basically, since tallow’s composition is so similar to our skin’s natural oils, it absorbs deeply instead of just sitting on the surface. This allows it to penetrate and nourish without clogging pores or causing sensitivity. Unlike store-bought creams that often create a barrier without truly hydrating, tallow works with your skin to restore moisture from within.

What Makes Bloom’s Tallow Balm Different?
While pure tallow is deeply nourishing on its own, Bloom's whipped tallow balms are created with extra care and the highest quality ingredients to maximize the power of tallow’s moisturizing and skin-compatible properties. If you're looking for a whipped tallow balm to nourish your skin, here are a few things that make ours stand out.
Handcrafted in Small Batches – Every jar is made with intention, ensuring consistency and care in each formulation. I have made hundreds of small-batches using my signature recipe and process!
100% Pure, Grass-Fed, American-Raised Tallow – Sourced from ethically raised cattle for the purest, most nutrient-rich tallow possible.
Organic Ingredients – Our formula includes the best natural, organic oils to enhance hydration and skin nourishment.
Formulated for Sensitive Skin – Free from harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances, and unnecessary additives, making it perfect for delicate and reactive skin.
Face-Friendly Formula: Balanced for Skin, Not Just Scent – Bloom’s balm is whipped to a light, luxurious texture that absorbs effortlessly into the skin. Since this product is designed to be face-friendly, I choose every ingredient with intention, focusing on skin benefits. My formula includes organic essential oils for their gentle, skin-supporting properties rather than strong fragrance. I also use raw honey, a natural humectant that helps lock in moisture, keeping skin soft and hydrated for longer.
How to Use Bloom’s Tallow Balms for Dry Skin
Bloom’s whipped tallow balms are incredibly versatile and can be used in several ways to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and glowing. Whether you need an all-over moisturizer, a nourishing facial treatment, or even a gentle cleanser, these tallow balms can handle it.
1. Use Bloom’s Tallow Balm as a Cleanser
I haven’t talked about this much before, but you can actually use Bloom’s tallow balms as a cleanser—just like any oil-based cleansing method! They work wonderfully for removing makeup, dirt, and excess oil while keeping skin moisturized and balanced.
To use Bloom’s tallow balm as a cleanser:
Apply a small amount to dry skin, gently massaging in circular motions.
Let it sit for a minute or two to break down impurities.
Wipe off with a warm, damp washcloth to reveal clean, soft, hydrated skin.
If you have dry skin, oil-based cleansers like Bloom’s tallow balms are often a better choice than water-based or alcohol-containing products, which can strip your skin’s natural oils and make dryness worse.
2. Apply Bloom’s Tallow Balm Anywhere You Need It
Bloom’s whipped tallow balms aren’t just for your face! If your elbows, hands, or even heels are feeling dry, apply one of our balms just as you would any type of lotion.
Many of my regular customers—especially those in the medical and cosmetic industries—swear by Bloom’s tallow balms for their hands. They apply it before wearing rubber gloves to keep their skin from getting too dried out throughout the day.
3. My Favorite: Bloom’s Tallow Balm as a Nighttime Moisturizer
My personal favorite way to use Bloom’s tallow balms is as a facial moisturizer—especially before bed. You can apply it morning or night, but I (and many of my customers) love using it as a deep overnight treatment.
Simply apply a thick layer before bed, and when you wake up? Your skin will feel nourished, soft, and have a youthful glow! If you struggle with dry patches, dullness, or irritation, this is an absolute game-changer.
4. Use Bloom’s Tallow Balm for Facial Massage (Gua Sha & Lymphatic Drainage)
One of the best ways to maximize Bloom’s tallow balms’ benefits is by pairing them with facial massage tools like a gua sha, jade roller, or your fingertips for a gentle lymphatic drainage massage. (This is one of my other favorite ways to use it!)
Apply a light layer of Bloom’s tallow balm to your face after cleansing.
Use a gua sha, jade roller, or massage with your hands in gentle upward and outward motions.
This helps to stimulate circulation, reduce puffiness, and enhance product absorption for a radiant, lifted glow.
Facial massage with Bloom’s tallow balms is a luxurious self-care ritual that deeply hydrates while promoting relaxation and improved skin tone—win-win!
